The
Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau released its new
Reunion Planning Kit entitled,
A "How to" Planning Guide for Reunions & Gatherings in Louisville. This 56-page, full-color brochure includes a two-year, step-by-step planning guide and timetable, sample itineraries, sample worksheets and forms, resources and a glossary of terms.
"This kit is designed to help both the first-time reunion planner and an experienced reunion planner," said
Peggy Riley, director of Multicultural Sales at the Louisville CVB. "There are suggestions and tips in this kit that anyone planning a military, class or family reunion will find useful." The "How to" kit provides many specific tips for planning a reunion in Louisville and it highlights the numerous ways the CVB staff can assist. A sample of the Louisville CVB's complimentary reunion planning assistance includes:
- Sending a "lead" to local hotels for sleeping and meeting rooms;
- One Louisville souvenir per attendee;
- One Visitor Guide per room blocked on peak night;
- A local vendor list for customized reunion t-shirts, entertainment, photographers, decorators, caterers, etc.; and
- Access to the Louisville CVB's Reunion Service Specialists.
With reunions attendees consuming space, food and amenities and averaging three days and two nights, the impact on a city can be significant. Louisville annually hosts more than 40 family reunions, with an average of 100 people at each reunion, and a total annual economic impact of $1.5 million.
