For the first time since 2010,
“Oprah’s Favorite Things” returned for a two-hour special event on
OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network. Like never before, the show revealed the must-have gifts for this past holiday season to a group of unsuspecting
Military Spouse of the Year finalists in Washington D.C. The final surprise of the night came when
Oprah Winfrey, working with
Tourism Fiji, surprised the spouses with a trip of a lifetime to the beautiful
Fiji Islands and
Namale, Fiji’s #1 Resort & Spa. The trip included two round trip tickets on
Air Pacific, Fiji’s International airline and
Pacific Sun, along with a five-night stay at the luxurious all-inclusive Namale Resort & Spa.
A group from
The Conservatorium of Music in Fiji were chosen to unveil the final “Oprah’s Favorite Thing: 2012” gift to the unsuspecting group of military spouses. They entered the room singing in cultural attire and entertained the spouses, along with Oprah Winfrey, with a traditional spear dance. Amidst wild cheers and tears of joy, it was revealed that eight of the spouses had never had a honeymoon, and others had not been on a vacation with just their spouse in many years. The television special “Oprah’s Favorite Thing: 2012” re-aired twice in December on OWN.
