TRAVEL INDUSTRY LEADERS EMPHASIZE UNITY AND STORYTELLING TO PRESERVE U.S.-CANADA TRAVEL

Travel Alliance Partnership Facilitated Tourism Industry Conversation of U.S. & Canada Cross-Border Relations

Travel Alliance Partnership (TAP) held a virtual conversation, "Effects of Policy & Headlines on Cross-Border Tourism". The five-person panel represented Canadian travel media, tour operators and U.S./Canadian border destinations and discussed the tourism landscape between the two countries amid economic shifts, political tensions and evolving consumer sentiments. Despite tariffs and the corresponding headlines, the tourism industry remains hopeful and motivated, emphasizing the need for collaboration, continued investment and thoughtful storytelling of the cultural ties that bind the two nations.

TAP CEO Nicole Mahoney moderated the hour-long discussion among the following panel participants:

·      Christopher Mitchell , Canadian travel influencer and director of Travel Blog Exchange (TBEX)

·      Catherine Dawson March , travel writer and editor, The Globe and Mail

·      Richard Arnold , Canadian tour operator, Atlantic Tours

·      Corey Fram , director, 1000 Islands International Tourism Council

·      Vince Accardi , president, Ontario Motor Coach Association (OMCA)

Mahoney began by saying, "We hope that today's conversation is the start of a conversation and not the end, and that it's an ongoing, forward-focused collaboration between the whole travel community."
