UNDERGROUND RAILROAD FREEDOM CONFERENCE & TOUR SET FOR JUNE 18-21

The National Policy Alliance Canada (NPA) proudly announces its immediate collaboration with esteemed partner organizations, The World Conference of Mayors (WCM), the Historic Black Towns and Settlements Alliance, Inc. (HBTSA), and National Policy Alliance, Washington, DC, to host the annual Underground Railroad Freedom Conference & Tour, from June 18 to June 21, 2024. This transformative Underground Railroad conference and bus tour event will take place at the Doubletree by Hilton, located at 108 Chestnut Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

This year's Underground Railroad conference holds exceptional significance as it coincides with the Buxton, Ontario Juneteenth celebration, June 19th. Leaders and members of The World Conference of Mayors (WCM) and global organizations representing International and National Black Policy Making Organizations are invited to participate in this groundbreaking event.

The overarching theme for the conference is "Legacy Lines: Celebrating the Underground Railroad's Path to Freedom – Connecting Past to Future." This theme underscores the commitment to honoring rich African Canadian history and heritage, while paving the way for a brighter and more inclusive future for the 7 generations of African Canadian descendants that live throughout Canada and the United States.

The Underground Railroad conference will delve into crucial themes such as community development, with a focus on promoting economic development, business, trade, and tourism across countries and in the Historic Black Towns and Settlements that arose due to the Trans- Atlantic Slave Trade, spanning from Africa to the United States, Canada, Mexico, and throughout the Caribbean.

Attendees can expect invaluable insights and access to community economic development ideas and resources based on the principles of The WCM 7 T's: Trust, Trade, Tourism, Technology- Transfer, Twining, Treasury, and Training, as well as the HBTSA 3 P's: Preserve, Protect, and Promote our heritage.
