THE EAST COAST’S LARGEST RESORT WILL REOPEN JULY 1 WITH RENOVATED GUEST ROOMS, ENHANCED CLEANING PROTOCOLS, AND NEW SUMMER OFFERINGS

Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center recently announced the much-anticipated reopening of the iconic resort on July 1, 2021. The resort will reopen following an expansive $64 million guestroom renovation with enhanced safety and health protocols and exciting new summer activities designed to highlight its spectacular 19-story garden atrium and waterfront setting.

"We are thrilled to reopen our doors and welcome back guests to experience our beautiful newly reimagined resort - just in time for the summer travel season," said Dan McKeon, area general manager. "Our luxurious guestrooms have been totally re-designed to offer guests a personal oasis where they can enjoy everything the resort and destination have to offer."

Designers drew inspiration for the guestroom design and décor from elements of the Capital Region where the resort is located - just minutes from Downtown Washington, D.C. on the Potomac River in National Harbor, MD.  The design features peaceful blues of the water, combined with copper penny accents as a reference to the nation's 16th President, Abraham Lincoln whose abstract image also adorns several suites. Each aspect of the guestrooms was carefully selected to offer elegance and functionality.

The resort's 110 suites new look and feel was also inspired by some of the region's landmarks and history including Washington, D.C.'s iconic flower, - The Cherry Blossom, The First Ladies and the former presidential yacht The Sequoia.  Many of the larger suites have elements meeting planners and executives are looking for when they travel and host meetings, including in-suite personal fitness rooms and equipment, private dining areas and enhanced technology touch points.

Colin Reed , chairman and CEO of Ryman Hospitality Properties, Inc. said, "Gaylord National's reopening represents a significant milestone for our company as we get closer to a much-anticipated return to group travel. After accelerating a previously planned rooms renovation and repositioning our food and beverage offerings over the last year, we are ready to welcome guests back to the most spectacular resort on the East Coast."

The 1,996-room hotel features more than 600,000 sq. ft. of meeting and exhibit space, making it the largest non-gaming resort and convention center on the East Coast.  The resort will operate in accordance with Marriott International's "Commitment to Clean" standards.  This includes new cleaning technology, hospital-grade disinfectants, attendants dedicated to sanitizing frequently throughout the day, new social distancing practices, and hundreds of enhanced cleaning protocols to take care of guests while they enjoy the resort.
