The
Recycling Council of Ontario awarded
Exhibition Place the
Silver Facility Management Award, which recognizes buildings that showcase an internal waste minimization program. Exhibition Place is honored to receive RCO’s Silver award for outstanding achievement through its
GREENSmart Program.
Exhibition Place’s GREENSmart Program was established in 2004, and incorporates a number of environmental initiatives which reflect our goal of environmental responsibility and leadership with respect to sustainability, energy production and waste reduction. The Recycling Council of Ontario honors those who demonstrate excellence and leadership in the creation of waste reduction/diversion initiatives. The Awards are integrated into the celebration of
Waste Reduction Week in Canada, which aims to inform and engage Canadians about the environmental and social ramifications of wasteful practices. It strives to educate, engage and empower Canadians to reduce, reuse and recycle waste.
“We are proud to be recognized for the continuous hard work and committed leadership of our staff at Exhibition Place, and look forward to introducing new and innovative ideas to our award winning Program,” says chair of the Board,
Councillor Mark Grimes.
In Ontario, Waste Reduction Week took place October 17-23, 2011, with the Waste Minimization Awards ceremony on October 19, 2011 at Allstream Centre.
