Key West To Host Ecoweek Summit Nov. 2-5
EcoWeek 2011 is to bring together business interests, policymakers, environmental stakeholders and socially conscious travelers for a unique summit to find real solutions for safeguarding a healthy planet amid a host of environmental challenges. The event is scheduled Wednesday through Saturday, Nov. 2-5, and headquartered at Key West’s Tennessee Williams Theatre, 5901 College Road. Sessions are to be complemented by opportunities for eco-adventures in the Key West area. The three-day conference, called EcoSummit for Sustainable Business, is expected to cover such topics as the power of business to make positive changes, positioning companies and individuals in the “green” marketplace, energy at a crossroads, the impact of plastic on ecosystems and responsible oil drilling in the world’s coastal waters. Scheduled speakers include representatives of the educational, political and private-business sectors. Among them are Ed Russo, project director for Trump International; Terry E. Lewis, a representative of more than 50 regional and local governments; Jeremy Lawton Susac, president and CEO of the Real Energy Strategies Group; and Bill Macdonald, a film producer and former team member on board Jacques Cousteau’s Calypso research vessel. Attendees are invited to participate in the discussions whether they are engaged in or are new to sustainable living. Registration fee for the entire summit is $375 per person.
